GloucesterCan
GloucesterCan was a local initiative, launched in November 2020 during the Covid Pandemic.
It was a digital space that showcased people’s stories of community hope and kindness during the pandemic and what you could do during the lockdown to keep active and engaged.
Focusing on what ‘CAN’ still be done rather than what can’t be done.
Local people played a critical role throughout the pandemic. It was therefore critical that these support networks were nurtured across the city for what might happen in the winter and beyond of 2020
We were aware of the effect that loneliness has had on people’s mental health and the loss of confidence that many residents had experienced during the lockdown due to remaining at home.
These were the people that are likely to need support to reconnect, get back out and be active in their communities again.
The GloucesterCan Initiative was a great success in achieving its goal, with 2,900 people visiting the platform during the pandemic in 2020.
GloucesterCan included Monthly Pledges, Walking Bingo and Community Stories of Hope and Kindness.
The stories of Hope and Kindness from these local Gloucester residents, and other creative ideas, brought more encouragement, inspiration and hope for people to keep pushing together and believing ‘GloucesterCan’.
