Digital Inclusion Case Studies

Case studies play a crucial role in understanding the significance of digital inclusion. They provide real-life examples of how access to technology and the internet can positively impact individuals and communities. By showcasing success stories and lessons learned, case studies highlight the importance of bridging the digital divide and ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to thrive in the digital age.

Connecting Families Together

In one of our digital drop-in sessions, Nat empowered a resident to embrace technology. Through patient guidance, the resident learned the skills and process of how to use FaceTime.

Recently, this resident was able to connect with her family living abroad using the FaceTime app using the skills she had learned from Nat. This newfound confidence not only connected a family across the globe, but also allowed a family to share important moments no matter the distance.

Staying connected with family via platforms like Skype, WhatsApp, and FaceTime holds immense importance. Through video calls, instant messaging, and voice chats, loved ones can share important moments, exchange updates, and provide support, fostering a sense of closeness and belonging. Especially during challenging times such as pandemics or when loved ones live far apart, these platforms serve as lifelines for emotional connection and reassurance.

Budget Friendly Delights

Through our digital drop-in sessions, a resident gained skills to download the Too Good To Go app. Guided step-by-step, she learned how to download an app and how the app works, enabling her to source surplus food and enjoy affordable treats.

Now, she is able to use her new found skills to enjoy some delicious meals and sweet treats without straining her budget. This app allows you to pick from a variety of bakeries, shops and cafes that have made too much fresh food that day around your area. Your selected shop will put together a surprise bag at a lower price and you can order it right within the app. This way you can protect the environment and discover new places at the same time.

As well as this, this resident shared her new found knowledge of the app with other residents, which has meant that residents now meet up to collect food and swap the items they wouldn’t use with residents that find good use.

Protect Your Data

Nat was able to help secure one resident's data and explain how to make future steps protect the resident from scams and keep safe. Nat was also able to turn off unwanted notifications and offer help and guidance to build up the residents' digital skills.

Internet safety is all about staying secure and making smart choices online. It means being cautious about what you share, avoiding suspicious links and downloads, and protecting your personal information like passwords and addresses. By practicing internet safety, you can enjoy the benefits of the online world while keeping yourself and your information safe from harm

Staying safe online and protecting data is increasingly critical in today's digital world. Mobile devices have become crucial tools for communication, productivity, and accessing online services. With the increasing digitisation of personal, financial, and sensitive information, safeguarding data has become crucial to prevent identity theft, fraud, and privacy breaches.
