Working with the Community - Longlevens Community Centre
When Dave took over as Centre Manager with his partner Kate, they were tasked to make it more community orientated.
We spoke with Dave who said, “When we took the business on, it was probably safe to say it was more of a Public house than a community centre.”
We've cut it back now to the normal pub times, we've brought a new coffee morning in, which is obviously based more for the community, giving them somewhere they can come see us there's no obligation to buy anything it's just a space here where they can meet up with friends.”
The Longlevens Community Centre wanted to be more connected with the community, making it the community hub in the area.
Over the last year they have sponsored one of the local children’s football team, worked with and contribute to the Community Mini Bus, and have arrange some fantastic music and comedy nights at the centre.
“We are a business, and we do have to make money, but its not just about that, it’s how we can give back more as a business”.
The Longlevens Community Centre has become a home of different activities in the area, a place for people to meet and connect.
